It's the cat's meow #74

I probably won't get the chance to go online tomorrow, so I'll put everything for this week up now.

The research of Tom Purdoo #1

A new idea I'm working on. Although this is an early one, and they became better researched, this at least gives an idea of the mix of scholarly and schoolboy humour. Later strips focus on small unheralded people in history who are often stranger and more interesting than the usual kings and prime ministers that we usually are taught about.

It's the cat's meow #73

A little something extra for the bank holiday!

Having said that, I don't really like two-frame strips. For some reason, it lacks the spontaneity of one-frame cartoons and also the establishing first frame of three-frame strips. Or maybe I just think about stuff too much. Either way, sometimes there's a joke that only needs two frames and to add any more would just be padding.

Ooh, a slightly new format...

Tiny Manu #50

Tiny Manu's 50th comic strip. Woo hoo!

Life Drawing #2

When I did the first sketch below, I had great difficulties in trying to work out if she was in proportion or not. Perhaps because she was kneeling down and facing slightly towards me, I went from thinking I'd made her upper body too long, to thinking perhaps it was fine.

The strip that writes itself #6

And inspired by my idea to do life drawing, I came up with this. Although, when I told a friend I was going to do life drawing, he thought of the same joke too.

Life Drawing

So I've started doing life drawing once a week. The first time in eighteen years, more or less. I'm sticking to short poses for now, since I think I need practice in getting people in different poses more than any particular fidelity to every nuance of the human form.
