Remarkable headline from the Times newspaper 1882

While searching through the Times online archive, I found an astonishing revelation tucked away in the results.



As it turns out, it was the first line of the story, which continued "... there is no truth in the reports of..." which was a pity. But for a while, I thought the Times had gone all relativist, perhaps in an attempt at doing itself out of a job.
