Will Evans (1873-1931) was a clown and acrobat who first appeared on stage in 1881 as an animal impersonator.

He was famous for sketches like "I do love myself, don't I?", "Lady Godiva", "Harnessing a horse", "Building a chicken shack", "whitewashing the ceiling", "papering a house".

As you can see, he'd fallen into a certain routine in his later work.
